Wowzi Co-Founders Brian Mogeni & Mike Otieno Named Business Daily Top 40 Under 40 2021
We are pleased to share that Business Daily (Kenya) has recognized Wowzi co-founders Brian Mogeni, CEO, and Mike Otieno, VP, Partnerships, in their annual Top 40 under 40 list.
This year’s honorees were chosen as champions of Kenya’s economic recovery in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic. The women and men selected have made significant contributions to sport, art, culture, business, and government, and public sector in Kenya and beyond.
Over the past year, Wowzi has created over 150,000 dignified gig jobs for Kenyan youth in the marketing space and remains committed to building up the next generation of Kenyan creators, helping them access opportunities to work with brands through the Wowzi app. On any given week, Wowzi’s influencer marketing platform returns an average 5million Kenya shillings into the pockets of young people all around the country. Regardless of geography, level of educational attainment, or income level, anyone with a smartphone can now be an influencer. In this way, influencer marketing has been democratized so that digitally savvy Kenyans can start to think of themselves and media entrepreneurs building their own brands as they participate in the digital economy. The Wowzi community of influencers is now +60,000 strong, and we’re growing every day.
Through the pandemic, we saw that focusing on jobs and connecting capacity to opportunity is the smartest way to leverage the power of technology. This is why Wowzi has chosen to design for the masses inKenya and beyond, and not simply focus on building for a handful of celebrity influencers (although we also work with hundreds of celebrity Kenyan personalities).
Thank you Business Daily for recognizing and honoring the work of our founders, and by extension our entire team.
